Hi I just installed this pluglin for wp-bookwormr and have activated it but unable to see it on the sidebar? I do not see a widget I can add?
Is there something I am missing?
Thanks
Allen
Hi, I am having the same issue as Allen. I see that the instructions say we need to insert a php line into the code. Is there not an easier more automated widget that you can add or any workaround please?
Thanks,
Farnoosh
Hi, I also posted a similar question as Allen to WordPress plugin page under this plugin. Do we need to edit the sidebar.php? If so, can you be more specific for those of us not familiar with php? I’d much rather have the widget option but I really like bookwormr and would love to use this plugin if the instructions are clear. Many thanks.

The instructions in the plugin are perhaps a little vague.
1. Upload wp-bookwormr to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
3. Place < ?php print bookwormr_display(); ?> in your sidebar
The 3rd instruction needs some clarification.
In your wordpress themes folder (e.g. /wp-content/themes/bookwormr)* there is a file called sidebar.php. You need to edit this file and place the line
< ?php print bookwormr_display(); ?>
in it. This line will print out the bookwormr information.
Position the line in this file where you want your bookwormr information to appear, for instance if you want it to appear between ‘Archives’ and ‘Pages’, find the appropriate section in the sidebar.php file.
Hope that makes sense, if not let me know and I can provide more information.
Thanks,
Darren
* – my theme is named bookwormr, yours may be named default or classic in which case the directory would be /wp-content/themes/default or /wp-content/themes/classic.
Darren,
Thanks for responding.
First: Someone else responded to my wordpress forum request on the same topic differently. I tried his solution. It did not work. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/278186?replies=3
Next: I tried your suggestion. Please note that I am running the latest version of WordPress 2.8.1, Plugin is activated, my Bookwormr account has books in Read and Reading and Wishlist section: http://bookwormr.com/user/show/username/prolificliving
I updated the sidebar.php file as you indicated, and saved. I do not see the bookwormr anywhere in sight!
Please advise.
Thanks so much,
Farnoosh
Hi again Darren,
FYI: I just now temporarily removed the side-bar widget (which only showed “Bookwormer”) til I hear next steps or ideas from you.
Thanks so much,
Farnoosh

I tried adding the plugin but I can’t get it to show up in the sidebar.
Following the instructions didn’t work, adding a text widget and sticking the code in there didn’t work either. Tried “” as above which showed the php code as plain text in the box. Then I omitted the space in the code and inserted “” which just made it a blank text box. (I have the bookwormr account and user name inputted. Not sure what the problem is.)
I’m having similar troubles with my bookwormr plug-in and after following the steps you mentioned it still isn’t showing up. I’m using the Color3 theme and I found the “sidebar.php” folder but no matter where I put the code you gave it wouldn’t work. If there is anything you can clarify or any pointers you could offer I would most appreciate it.

Is there any way you can add author information to the array for the WordPress Widget?
